Bred by MycoCat Genetix, the mycologist who isolated the Phobos parent line. Rather than a routine cubensis-to-cubensis cross, Natal Moon combines two separate Psilocybe species. The P. natalensis parent is a sister species to cubensis, native to the KwaZulu-Natal region of South Africa, documented at 1.5 to 2x standard cubensis potency for decades. The P. cubensis Phobos parent is the Albino Mars line, known for its distinctive leucistic (partially albino) white morphology.
What Natal Moon looks like: Medium-sized fruits with white leucistic caps 2 to 3 cm wide, edges turning upward at maturity, greying at the center as they age. Gills shift to a distinctive grey-blue hue as spores develop. Handled tissue bruises blue under any pressure — a hallmark of high tryptamine concentration across both parent species.
What makes it different: Natal Moon is one of very few genuine interspecies hybrids on any dispensary shelf. The Natalensis parent brings a headspace character most PE-lineage cubensis strains cannot match — a cleaner, more uplifting emotional current with less body load than heavy PE hybrids like APE or Penis Envy. How to weigh and portion accurately
Dried mushroom potency varies within a single flush — caps are typically 20–40% more potent per gram than stems, and smaller mushrooms tend to test higher than larger ones. To eliminate that variance and get a consistent session dose from Natal Moon, grind your entire eighth into a homogenous powder before weighing out your session dose. A coffee grinder works fine; a mortar and pestle is quieter and preserves the aroma.
Use a scale with 0.01g precision (0.05g minimum). Kitchen scales that measure to the nearest gram will not give you accurate psilocybin doses. If you're microdosing, you need 0.01g resolution or the variance between "microdose" and "threshold dose" will drift session to session.
