Community accounts trace the isolate to a rare Amazonian sample worked on by Steven Pollock in the 1970s and refined through Terence McKenna’s circle in the decades after. Everything with “PE” in its name descends from this line — APE, PE Extreme, Melmac PE, Trinity, Tidal Wave (B+ x PE), Bluey Vuitton, Lucid Gates, and dozens of modern hybrids all trace back to this cultivar.

Why Penis Envy matters: This is not a strain in the ordinary sense — it is the reference lineage the modern high-potency cubensis catalog was built on.

Testing consistently places PE psilocybin content well above the cubensis average, and the strain rarely releases spores because the cap structure prevents normal sporulation.

Because it can’t be propagated from spore prints the way most cubensis are, PE has to be grown from live culture. That’s part of why authentic Penis Envy genetics stayed relatively rare for years, and why every serious cultivator with a PE-derived cross treats the lineage as a foundation to build on.

What the fruits look like: Unmistakable morphology. Thick, dense, phallic-shaped stems with small undeveloped caps that often fail to fully open.

Bruising is dramatic deep blue — sometimes near-purple — anywhere the tissue is handled, which is the visible signal of the strain’s unusually high psilocin content oxidizing on exposure to air.

Yields are modest for cultivators because the same dense-stem trait that makes PE potent also makes it slow to fruit. Every fruit that reaches the shelf is doing more work than a standard cubensis fruit of the same weight.

Dosing baseline: Golden Teacher = 1x reference. Penis Envy runs at approximately 1.5–2x. A light portion is 0.3–0.5g.

A museum portion is 0.6–1.0g. A full portion is 1.2–2.0g. A heroic portion is 2.5g+. Drop your normal cubensis dose by 30–50% and start at 1g or less first time.

Prior Golden Teacher or Hillbilly experience is not a reliable dose reference here. Grind and weigh precisely; do not eyeball.

Effects profile: Onset 20–30 minutes on a light meal — sharper come-up than typical cubensis, which is one of the family signatures. Peak arrives around 75–90 minutes and runs heavy.

Total session window four to six hours with a real afterglow. Visuals are vivid and saturated, though closed-eye density is not quite at the Enigma or Tidal Wave level.

The headspace runs heavy and introspective; body load is pronounced; time dilation is significant. Emotional release is common.

Ego-dissolution is very much on the menu at full-and-above doses. This is the classic PE-family session — heavy, inward, memorable, and unmistakable.

PE family tree: If Penis Envy is the parent trunk, the family carries some of the most respected names in modern cubensis. Albino Penis Envy is the leucistic mutation and 2022 Psilocybin Cup Spiritual Champion. Penis Envy Extreme is the intensified selection running higher than standard PE. Melmac PE is a distinct high-potency variant with gnarled stems and heavy bruising. Modern hybrids Bluey Vuitton, A3, and TWAPE all use PE-family genetics as their backbone.
