Slim Shady is a community-circulated Psilocybe cubensis strain. Its specific breeder and parent cross are not publicly documented — like many named cubensis strains, it has circulated cultivator-to-cultivator through spore trading networks without a formal release record. We carry it because it produces a reliable, well-balanced fruiting profile suitable for new and intermediate psilocybin users.
Slim Shady fruits are medium-sized with proportional caps and stems. Cap color runs caramel-to-mahogany with a slightly wavy edge as the fruits mature. Stems are medium-thick and bruise lightly blue under handling. The strain is named for the lean stem-to-cap ratio relative to bulkier cubensis varieties. Growth is consistent across flushes, with moderate yields.
The experience is best described as balanced and approachable. Onset is standard (30–45 minutes), peak around 90 minutes, total duration 4–5 hours. How to weigh and portion accurately
Dried mushroom potency varies within a single flush — caps are typically 20–40% more potent per gram than stems, and smaller mushrooms tend to test higher than larger ones. To eliminate that variance and get a consistent session dose from Slim Shady, grind your entire eighth into a homogenous powder before weighing out your session dose. A coffee grinder works fine; a mortar and pestle is quieter and preserves the aroma.
Use a scale with 0.01g precision (0.05g minimum). Kitchen scales that measure to the nearest gram will not give you accurate psilocybin doses. If you're microdosing, you need 0.01g resolution or the variance between "microdose" and "threshold dose" will drift session to session.
Set and setting: the two variables that shape every trip
"Set" is your mindset going in — are you calm, curious, well-slept, and free of acute stress? "Setting" is your physical environment — is it comfortable, private, safe, and free of interruptions? These two variables have as much influence on a psilocybin session as the dose itself. Do not dose Slim Shady the day of a major work deadline, in an unfamiliar environment, or if you're actively arguing with someone.

Onset, peak, and duration — a session timeline
Most Psilocybe cubensis strains including Slim Shady follow this timeline when eaten dried on an empty stomach:
- 0–45 minutes: Come-up. Body warmth, first perceptual shifts, mild yawning or nausea. Some strains onset in 20–30 minutes (Melmac PE lineage, albinos). Others take 60–90 minutes.
- 45 minutes–2 hours: Peak. Full visual enhancement, deepest introspection, warmest body sensations.
- 2–5 hours: Plateau. Effects gradually taper. Music, art, and conversation feel richest here.

Psilocybin tolerance builds fast and resets slow. A full dose today will feel roughly 50% weaker if repeated tomorrow, 75% weaker at day 3, and back to baseline around day 7–14. Cross-tolerance with LSD and other classical psychedelics is significant. If you're doing back-to-back sessions, expect diminishing returns and don't chase the first-day intensity by stacking doses.

Storage and shelf life
