Hash Bash 2026 Ann Arbor — The Complete Guide (Plus Where to Find Magic Mushrooms)
Hash Bash 2026 is happening on Saturday, April 4 — and if you’re making the trip to Ann Arbor for the 55th annual rally at the University of Michigan Diag, you’re visiting one of the most progressive cities in the Midwest for plant medicine, advocacy, and culture. What most Hash Bash 2026 visitors don’t realize is that Ann Arbor’s forward-thinking spirit doesn’t stop at cannabis. Since 2020, psilocybin mushrooms are also decriminalized here — and Mush Love MI, Ann Arbor’s top-rated magic mushroom dispensary, is just 1 mile from the Diag.
Here’s your complete Hash Bash 2026 guide — plus everything you need to know about visiting Mush Love MI while you’re in town.
Hash Bash 2026 — Event Details
Hash Bash 2026 takes place on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at high noon on the University of Michigan Diag, 913 S. University Ave, Ann Arbor, MI. Admission is completely free — no tickets required. Expect speeches, activism, and 10,000–15,000 people showing up for the 55th year of one of America’s longest-running cannabis protests.
Hash Bash traces its roots to 1972, when Ann Arbor erupted in response to activist John Sinclair being sentenced to 10 years in prison for possession of two joints. What began as a protest has grown into an annual tradition — part rally, part reunion, part reminder that the fight for plant freedom isn’t finished.
Note for 2026: The Monroe Street Fair that typically follows the Diag rally will not be taking place this year. The organizing committee cited logistical challenges. The Diag is the main event — plan accordingly.
Hash Bash Cup: Running April 3–5 at the Wyndham Garden Hotel and Hampton Inn & Suites Ann Arbor West, the Hash Bash Cup is a separate ticketed event featuring celebrity guests, vendor showcases, competitions, live performances, and food trucks.
A Note on Smoking at Hash Bash 2026
The University of Michigan has made it clear that marijuana is prohibited on all university property — including the Diag — because the university receives federal funding and is bound by federal law. Campus police and Ann Arbor Police Department will both be present. Know the rules and make your own informed decisions. Cannabis is legal in Michigan for adults 21 and older — just not on U-M property.
Ann Arbor’s Other Plant Medicine Tradition
Here’s something that doesn’t make the Hash Bash 2026 headlines as often as it should: Ann Arbor didn’t just decriminalize cannabis. In September 2020, the Ann Arbor City Council unanimously passed Resolution R-20-362, making the investigation, arrest, or prosecution of anyone for entheogenic plants and fungi — including psilocybin mushrooms — the lowest law enforcement priority in the city.
Ann Arbor was among the first cities in the United States to take this step, joining Oakland and Santa Cruz, California as trailblazers in the psychedelic reform movement. The same activist spirit that built Hash Bash over five decades also built the foundation for mushroom decriminalization. That’s where Mush Love MI comes in.

Hash Bash 2026 and the Bigger Picture
Hash Bash 2026 is about more than one plant. The rally exists because people were incarcerated for something that should never have been a crime. Ann Arbor’s cannabis and mushroom decriminalization didn’t happen by accident — it happened because this city spent 55 years building a culture of advocacy and resistance. Hash Bash is part of that legacy. So is Mush Love MI.
